Product management, in particular product management for software-based offerings, is attracting more attention recently.
Evidence: several specialized events this fall that provide software product managers with opportunities for experience sharing and upgrading their skills. Events include the ProductCamp Berlin, Product Management Festival in Zurich, and several Certified Software Product Manager trainings – including the training I offer in Stuttgart in November.
ProductCamp Berlin, September 7
Just a few days from now, the ProductCamp will take place in Berlin. This BarCamp event is targeted mostly at product managers from startups and digital businesses.
The event is already sold out, but in true BarCamp style, I expect a lot of sharing on Twitter via the #PCampB13 hashtag on September 7.
Product Management Festival in Zurich, September 16-19
A little more than two weeks from now, the first Product Management Festival will take place in Zurich. The conference program is final now, and the speaker line-up includes senior product managers from leading software-based businesses, including Google Apps, AirBnB, and Xing.
This conference will attract primarily professionals from larger product organizations – more than 200 participants have registered already.
However, a couple of seats are still available – the regular price for the 2-day conference is now 980 CHF (late booking price). Just drop me an e-mail to request a promotion code that gives you a 10% discount.
My Training for Certified Software Product Managers (ISPMA) in November
About two years ago, the International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA) has been formed to promote product management excellence – specifically for software-based businesses.
In the meantime, the ISPMA has defined a curriculum and certification process for software product managers. ISPMA members offer trainings based on the ISPMA curriculum, and several trainings are available this fall, including the one I provide together with Gerald Heller.
Gerald is a founding member of the ISPMA and a recognized expert in product management with a focus in product planning, roadmapping, and requirements engineering. I will cover the product strategy part of the training.
Our training will take place from November 5-7 in Stuttgart and it will provide a solid foundation for planning and executing product management activities. Attendees will be optimally prepared to obtain the internationally acknowledged Software Product Manager certification. More information, including the detailed training expose is available here.
